Our Nelsonville Depot

WELCOME TO THE NELSONVILLE DEPOT - THE START OF YOUR JOURNEY!

a train on a steel track

When you ride our historic train, your trip will begin at the Nelsonville Depot at 33 W. Canal St. Nelsonville, OH 45764, near the Rocky Outdoor Gear Store and the Black Diamond Brewery and Distillery. This quaint wooden structure was built back in 1982 and is based on an original Hocking Valley Railway Depot that was located in Rising Sun, Ohio. This is where you will pick up your tickets and board the train. Inside, you will find a waiting room, ticket office, restrooms, and even train memorabilia on display.

Please plan to arrive at the Depot no later than 30 minutes (45 minutes if someone in your party requires the wheelchair lift) prior to the scheduled departure time. When you arrive at the Depot, there are two parking lots you can use. There is one with an entrance off Canal Street and another with gravel that has two handicap spots. Learn more about our frequently asked questions here. Paper tickets must be obtained from the Depot prior to boarding the train. Your email confirmation is not a ticket, and you must obtain hard copies of them from the Depot.

Our Gift Shop!

Our gift shop is located near our Depot in the small wooden building between two parking lots. It is open during most of our trains. Inside, you will be able to purchase t-shirts, hats, HVSR-themed items, and more. In addition, non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks are available in the gift shop. We hope you will check it out.
